The Universal Book of Mathematics - This is an encyclopedia (only one volume) of mathematical terms, problems and famous mathematicians. Useful for some homework assignments.
The Somme - A recent history of one of the most brutal battles of the First World War. Primarily for history buffs.
The 100 Most Important Chemical Compounds - This a good resource for high school students and adults. It provides the chemical composition and properties of various compounds. Entries also include the history of their discovery and primary uses of the compounds. The language is easy to understand, with a minimum of jargon included.
